Title: Preamp recommendations
Post by: MikeZ on July 19, 2014, 11:57:46 AM
What would be a good preamp match with the new Carver tube 350 amp?

The best preamp I have used is my current preamp (I am selling my entire system).  It made my Black Beauties sound incredible.  VAC CPA1 MK II.  If interested I might be able to bring it to PA on Monday.  PM for pricing.  It retailed for about 7 grand.  Alternatively you could just wait for the Carver Preamp.

My recommendation would be to NOT wait for the new Carver Preamp.  Love Carver gear to death, but Bob probably hasn't even started working on it yet.

I got a bitchin' C-1 I have decided to part with if you're interested (sorry, OCCD, but I think it's time for someone else to enjoy it).  It's not tube, but it's the best C-1 you'll ever hear.

I kind of agree not to wait. Plus, summer is the best time to buy used gear. I highly recommend contacting me regarding my pre. I will be up in Pittsburgh Monday and I can almost bet you won't find a better one anywhere near the price I will offer this.

The VAC pre is very awesome. I would buy it. Actually, if is is still around after I get my ducks in order, I will buy it.
