Thiels do better with less
« on: May 19, 2011, 07:12:39 AM »
I recently down graded my bedroom set up and had excellent results.  I was using my Thiels with a tube pre (Melos), a pair of monoblocks (HK775) and the thiel bass eq.  Now, I am using a b&o receiver without the thiel bass eq and it sounds great.  The Thiels really open up with that old solid state power and there is no need for the factory eq.  I couldnt be happier with this set up, not only is it more aesthetically pleasing, I can finally remove that god awful bookshelf stereo I use for a radio.  The rack is temporary, I am waiting to get my dresser out of storage.  The rundown:

Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 6000 70wpc
Onkyo DVD
Thiel CS2
Duntech PCL-400 (Black Knight), KEF 105/3, Snell Type b
Aloia PST 11.1, Terra Song ss-1, Luxman c-1000, Melos MA333
Llano Phoenix CA-300, White Audio Labs A100, (2) Luxman M4000
McIntosh MA230
