It's Pittsburgh......not Pittsburg!!!!  ;)

Excuse Kingman, he's from the south...
They must have kicked him out, that's not Southern hospitality. Apparently Kingman has adopted Northern ways, but at least he's not a Philadelphia fan type (is he?). I mean, I don't want to get pelted with remote batteries at the next swap meet.

Hanging the group... sounding good.
I spelled it right Wayne.

Actually, our fine city has used both configurations. You can actually see references to the former name around town.

Thanks Harry...not trying to be inhospitable, but evidently the damn city doesn't even know which way to spell it!

North Carolina has the gaul to put "First in Flight" on their license plates (should be "First in Runways"). Dayton was the home of the Wright brothers and where the design work was done, and we've got the base to prove it.

At least Pittsburgh is still the Steel City, no matter how you spell it.

So why did they go there??? Because of the availability of high sustained wind speeds according to the Internet.

Probably a warmer place in the winter with soft landings too. At that time, I don't think the area was an intellectual/ engineering think tank. Apparently, the life guards helped move the air craft. North Carolina was pretty smart from the get go and maybe the actual sight of the flight is more marketable to the masses. The impressive monument there was completed in 1932.

In Dayton we have the Air Force museum and occasionally an over head flight by a replica Wright flyer. We have a big air show (not to mention the giant hamvention of electronics.) It would be interesting to learn why North Carolina was chosen over Dayton for a national monument.
