NEW CROWN PICS
« on: December 19, 2010, 12:40:33 PM »
Scored another crown PS-400 amp
Each running as a 530 watt monoblock into each of the 901's

a lot more control with the added power when it comes to blending the surrounds and subs with the mains.

the sound is incredible. It's amazing the punishment these 901's can handle.
Accurate and crisp is not this systems strong point. nor is this a system for background listening.

Pushed hard and it rewards you with the feeling of being at live concert under the stars. The virtual soundstage that eminates from the space between the speakers is second to none.  it is believable with strength and authority. You don't listen to the music, It cradles you.

901's are not even close to good sounding when compared to other speakers anywhere near their retail price but the overall effect you get when set up properly and given enough clean power, can't be matched by any other speaker I've ever had the chance to audition.

I implore all of you to come down for an audition. Pizza and booze is on me.

Happy Holidays to all,
Andrew (velodyne guy)

Like the amps very much.  That is a lot of power you have going into those 901's.  One thing they can do is get very loud.
Got Carver?

They do produce a live realistic effect and will handle alot...I've clipped my TFM-75 into a pair of series 1's. Enjoy the music!!!!
IN REALITY IT ONLY MATTERS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE TO YOU!!!!!

Cool stuff
I am confident that an SL-1200 is capable of outperforming turntables of much higher expense with minor modification.

Thanx for the feeds kids
My offer still stands for free pizza and social lubricant
I agree with Bill as the 901's as stand-alone's are rather flat and dull. Lets get real... they have no woofers, no tweeters and no crossovers. they derive their sound from the accoustic matrix cabinet design and active equalization. Nobody in their right mind would design a speaker that way. however Amar Bose was not of sound mind. If he was, he would probably be a salesman selling the shit, instead of running a fortune 500 company.

     however...

The combination of the 901's, velo's and linaeum tweets produces way more then the sum of their parts.  The soundstage is wherever your eyes are gazing at at the time... ceiling, side walls, between the speakers... whatever.  The total effect of this much power along with the seamless blending of the linaeums and of course the velo's makes for an effect that even the most sought-after speakers don't produce.

Remember folks it's not just the sound you hear, but the overall effect your system produces for you. 901's give you something even the most sought-after speakers can't.  Wheather that sounds good to you is a matter of personal taste. but once you experience that "something", you will be looking for that "something" in your system and others you audition. Then you will see why people love these along with their 43 year old technology.

So again My place is small, but my couch is comfortable so come on over and hear what I've been preaching about for about a year now. I promise you an experience that rivals the power and realism of a concert at the point.

Get to work fella's
Andrew
