I received the newest Stereophile magazine (August) in the mail Friday. I was surprised to see that the lead in letter "As We See It" this month was by Henry Rollins I have been a huge Rollins fan for as long as I can remember. I grew up listening to Black Flag, Rollins Band, and his other side projects as well as seeing his spoken word and reading his books. His letter talks about owning Carver gear! This is the second musician in the past few months that i've learned uses Bob's equipment. The first being King Buzzo from The Melvins who actually uses two PM1.5's in his live set to play guitar through.
Work was pretty slow today so as I skimmed Stereophile I though, "why not write Henry an e-mail." So, I wrote him a nice e-mail telling him how much of a fan I am and how great it was to hear he used Carver gear. I told him that Bob was now making tube mono blocks he should check out. (Henry's current setup is McIntosh w/ Wilson speakers). I wasn't even sure it was a real e-mail address as I found it on his website. Sure enough, a few hours later I received a response from one of my biggest idols.
"Ryan, hi. I have two set ups that use Carver gear. I have had it all a long time and it has never failed. Thanks for the heads up on what Carver is up to now. Thanks. Henry"
