Tom's tube tester
« on: July 03, 2011, 06:17:03 PM »
Hello.   I just scored my first piece of tube stereo gear (I'll start a separate thread on that if you like).   I saw in Falcon's Tube Trade thread that Tom has a tube tester.   Is it set up at the new location yet?   What is the charge for testing?   I'd love to check the tubes in this unit.

Here is the tube inventory (some were hard to read and I may have some digits wrong)...

6 @ Telefunken 12AX7 (Western Germany)
2 @ Telefunken 6U8 (Western Germany)
Scott 6KE8 (Gr Britain)
Scott ECC85 (Gr Britain)
Scott 6BS8 (USA)
Scott AU6A (USA)
Scott 6HS6
Pro/Comm 12AX7A
Scott 6BA6 (USA)
Scott 6BE6 (USA)

Pictures http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d11/markshan/Scott%20Console/ if you want to see them.

I don't know if the Teles are smooth plate or ribbed plate or even what that means.

Nice score!!

I saw the tube tester at the new shop yesterday.  Looked like it was hooked up.

I've got a tester if you want to come down to Irwin for a visit some time.

That would be very cool.   Thanks for the nice offer.   Are you retired?   (I wish I was.)   Are weekdays or weekends better?

A week later and my score seems to have sparked a bit of interest.   Should I start a separate thread with pictures?

Interesting hybrid Scott receiver in a console.
I bet it needs some re-capping.
