What are your favorite albums from this century?
« on: April 23, 2013, 08:34:46 PM »
I am enjoying the "Top Ten Albums" thread but notice that nobody (myself included) listed anything from this century.   I guess it takes a while for a release to become "classic".   That said, what do you like from the last 13 years?   I'll start...

1. Kathleen Edwards - Back to Me
2. Dawes - Nothing is Wrong
3. Warren Haynes - Man in Motion
4. Drive By Truckers - The Dirty South
5. Green Day - American Idiot
6. Tift Merritt - Tambourine
7. Fountains of Wayne - Welcome Interstate Managers
8. Janelle Monae - The Archandroid
9. Norah Jones - Come Away With Me
10. P!nk - I'm Not Dead

Just like the other one, this list is subject to change daily.

I really need to listen to this one.   I've seen it on lots of lists.

It's fantastic. I can probably leave a copy at the shop for you.

They almost sound like early 70's glam, they have a Sweet-esque quality to them.

Do you know Jet?   That description sounds like them.   That album could be on my list above.   So much good music.

BTW, don't bother leaving a copy, I'll get it from the library.   Thanks.

I can't stand Jet. :)

The Killers have a much more sophisticated sound than Jet, at least, in my opinion.

Can they be both "Sweet-esque" and sophisticated?

1: Foo Fighters-Wasting Light
2: Jason Mraz-Mr. A-Z
3: Decemberists-Hazards of Love
4: Muse-Absolution
5: Gotye-Making Mirrors
6: Jack White-Blunderbuss
7: Weezer-Red
8: Panic at the Disco-Pretty. Odd.
9: Turin Brakes-Outbursts
10:Nickle Creek-Why Should the Fire Die

I could go on, but these ones are the first ones to pop into my head.
I am confident that an SL-1200 is capable of outperforming turntables of much higher expense with minor modification.
