Jeff's Scott 340 Tuner-Amplifier

Met a new member of the forum (well - I think he is in the forum now) - name is Jeff - at the store last week.  He inherited a few pieces of vintage audio,  including a Scott A-340 'tuner-amplifier' (aka receiver).  Found it advertised in the 1963 edition of the Allied catalog, photos attached:

$379 plus $29 for the wood case was a lot of money in 1963.  The average automobile price was about $3,000, although many cars were selling for around $1,800, gas was $0.29, house price $12,000.

$410.00 in 1962 had the same buying power as $3,084.18 in 2012.
Annual inflation over this period was 4.12%

And that unit probably sells used today for about the same price as when new.  Even if it's double, sounds like a bargain.
