Marantz 2275 for sale
« on: July 24, 2012, 03:15:37 PM »
Hi everybody,

It's the new guy again. I have a Marantz 2275 that I would like to sell. I'm the second owner, but I've never tested it. I picked it up right before I left for graduate school in 2000 and it's been in storage at my parent's place ever since. It's still in the original box.

The original owner was a smoker, so the unit is yellowed and dingy. I would think it would clean up well, but I'm not interested in a project like that right now.

I live close to the shop, so I could easily bring the unit there for inspection.

I think I have a realistic idea of what this unit should be worth in it's current condition, but I would prefer to take offers at this point.

Thanks,
Eric

Eric,
To attempt to make any reasonable offers...  Some pics are a must...  Front/back/sides/etc.  Are all controls/switches functioning fine, all lamps are fine, etc.?

My 2 cents...

Why not take it to the shop and let them test it? This would be of little charge and provide an accurate description.

What Kingman proposes is a very good idea.  Also, this was brought up in another seller's thread, it would be a good idea to go to the welcome thread and introduce yourself.  If all of your posts are trying to sell things, existing members assume this is the only reason you joined.

Thanks for the input. Taking it to the shop was my original intent, which is why I had no pics in the original post. That way buyers could see it first hand. I haven't tested it and at the moment I have no way to do it at home (no speakers). I was envisioning someone bringing along a test speaker and running the unit through its paces in the shop vestibule.

Also, Tom has been very kind to me, giving me lots of honest advice, and I don't want to take advantage of the situation by using the shop as if it were my own storefront. Not cool. I'm listing my items here because he offered me the opportunity to do so.

I'm not going to lay out my current trials and tribulations for you all, but I'm selling this stuff because I have to. I'm not reselling to make a profit, I'm liquidating a "collection" of things that I acquired 10-20 years ago. And yes, it is my intent to offer my equipment to all of you and then be on my way. I would ask you to look at it as a glass-half-full sort of thing; an opportunity to pick up some neat old stuff cheap, as opposed to someone taking advantage of the forum to make a buck.

Thanks.

At least you are honest about it.   I have to give you credit there.

The unit is no longer for sale, it now belongs to Tom.
