January 2 2010 Meeting

Planning is underway for the first meeting of the new year. Hopefully the weather will behave. Dr Smoke will be working up more good eats. I will also have some new tunes for our listening pleasure.  So , recover fast New Years day and we will see you at the meeting. There is a new preamplifier at the shop that is kinda interesting.  A little DB Systems preamp with external power supply will be featured.( It does not look like much, but has great reviews. especially the phono section)

Hello all,

I will try to make the next meeting, weather permitting.  Also I plan on bringing a couple little integrated monblock single ended pentode amps from an old Akai.  This uses 12ax7 in the predriver and 6bq5 in the driver stage.  If you have any tubes for rolling, I have heard this can change the sound a lot.  Also this would best presented with a high efficiency speaker, all I have is medium efficiency multi- driver types (I will bring some little celestion 2-ways).

  I did not make the last one, however I got both of my vintage Scott solid state receivers up and running. So it was a good day anyway.
