need a 10-1/2" RTR
« on: August 28, 2013, 10:24:39 AM »
I need another RTR that accepts 10-1/2" reels so I can copy some from my beloved ReVox A77.  My other 2 RTR decks are awesome but only handle 7" reels.  Hoping to work some kind of trade including but not limited to my eldest son.  Bearjew is safe as he's our second son and quite useful!  Who else would help me with all my crazy wiring? Also interested in a spare turntable.  Hoping to work some kind of trade as I don't have much money at this time of year.  OCCD:  did you ever sell your A77?

If BJ washes floors, weeds, and mows lawns, I'll talk to Anders and see if he has anything.  lol

I don't have any spare tables that I wish to sell, but I could loan you one for a while if need be.

Anders says he has a couple of Ampex Transports if you would be interested in either of those.  He can PM you whenever he gets home, unless he just eats and crashes like he normally does, in which case, I will get more info and post myself.  I serve as secretary you know, among other things.

Oh and as far as a TT, he said he may be able to fix up a Dual for you.  He'll have to look around and see what he has.

thanks Bunni.  years ago I sold my Thorens TD160 to a buddy real cheap and of course now I regret it!  I also sold a Yamaha PX-3.  This was back when vinyl was on it's way out.  What a booboo

Thanks Anders.
My main reason for wanting a second turntable is twofold.  1) It will give me something while Tom is working on my beloved ReVox B795.  2) I also realized if the B795 ever really dies (pray it won't) a simpler turntable would make a good backup.  Plus it is nice to have another TT setup with a different sounding cartridge.  My main concerns are reliability, low mass tonearm, and DD or belt drive.  I listen to a lot of classical with piano concertos and nothing shows flutter like an idler drive with piano at least in my experience.
Thanks for you help.
