Carver Equipment Question (M-1.0t)
« on: January 04, 2010, 05:47:21 PM »
OK, since most of the threads I read on here revolve around Carver equipment and I have a question about a M-1.0t amplifier. How well can it handle driving complex speaker loads? I am a big B&W fan and that is the load I would use it for. I have a chance to buy the amp, a Carver preamp (model unknown at this time) and a TL 3200 cd player for $600. I think it is a little expensive but any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

The price is good, The M1.0t is easily worth 250to 275.  The amp can deliver 200 wrms @8. Power at clipping 350 wrms@8, 500wrms@4. I believe it to be a powerful performer.
Need more Carver! Comming soon a pair of silver 7t's!

If the preamp is a C-4000(t) or a C-16. Good deal.

Price really depends on the pre amp. Player is not that expensive. Let us know what you're getting.

The Pre is the deal maker or breaker.  The M1.0t should handle you B&W's.  Best thing to do is to try it and see.  Ever amp and speaker combo will sound different.

Sounds like a nice deal, depending on what pre you're getting with it.  Let us know what you think of the M1.0T.  I've always kind-of wanted one of those.

good luck.

I am sad to say that I cancelled the deal without ever finding out what preamp is in the mix. Seems to me that an amp worth $250 or $300 and a CD player worth $50 or $75 doesn't justify paying the extra $225 or $300 for a preamp I don't need. The seller will be out of town for the next week or so. I will find out what preamp he has asap as a follow-up. The preamp is loaned to another person presently and that's why the model number is a mystery. Thanks for the info.

To close the loop on this topic, the preamp is a Carver C-2.
