Snell Speakers for sale: EII EIII JII KIIv refoamed!
« on: July 06, 2014, 04:55:25 PM »
Hello everyone, I am cleaning house of my surplus Snell gear. All are in excellent working order, have been re-foamed, and are ready to go. Enclosures are in good condition for their age, please see photos for major blemishes (though they are much less offensive in person).

EII $400 - these are my favorite of the bunch. Somewhat rare in that the doped tweeters are still glossy and smooth. Every other example I've seen on the net, including the JII's also on offer, has dried out and cracked doping. I'm not sure what effect this has on tone; The JII sounds warmer but I can't say for sure if that's due to aged doping or design. Has extra rear-firing tweeters that I recommend blocking with felt for a smoother sound.

JII $300 - rare original stands included. Excellent natural tonality with great midrange punch. These have less treble energy than the E models. I'm not sure if this is by design or due to the tweeters aging. Handsome brown grill cloth.

EIII $300 - similar voicing the the EII with more powerful bass, though I prefer the tonality of the EII. These have the revised tweeter of the later Voecks designs that aren't doped and seem less sensitive to aging. Like the EII, has extra rear-firing tweeters that I recommend blocking with felt. Adjustable tweeter levels from rear panel.

KIIv $250 - original crossover capacitors replaced by previous owner with Dayton MKP, so these should sound better than new. Nice little speaker where space is limited. Adjustable tweeters.

Available for pickup. Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,
Rob
