Pioneer CF-T4242
« on: December 18, 2014, 02:59:47 PM »
Just picked this up today, it came from a friend's family.  Excellent condition, they tell me it works.  All lamps and buttons work, I have no tapes to test.  Cool looking deck.  $20

The kicker, they threw away the Pioneer receiver and JBL speakers because they didn't work.  But, they remembered I collect this stuff and didn't want to give me non-working equipment.  I cannot remember which Pioneer receiver it was but I think the speakers were JBL L46, I remember them being two way with a white cone woofer.  PM me, Nick

Looks good Nick!

I like the plastic canopy-dust-cover that slides up. It is a 2 head deck and does not handle metal, but the design is unique IMO.  On a good day with a good CrO2 tape it should do 30-16K.  The one I owned briefly had a dead capstan motor so cannot weigh in on how it sounds in real life.

I saw this same deck in the Goodwill store in Cheswick this week, looked nice, but I don't have any cassettes anymore.

A cassette deck has to be either really special or practically free for me to buy it.   I won't go $20 for too many thrift store cassette decks.
