Odyssey or sunfire, or....
« on: April 30, 2015, 08:24:44 AM »
Husband still wants another signature sunfire amp. R they superb....of course. But they are also aging. Reinvest in another sunfire. Or look around for something near the pricepoint which is new. Was looking at the odyssey , but at only a fraction of the power of the sunfire. Your opinions ARE appreciatedi

I would say get him an Emotiva XPR-2 for $1500.  If he does not like it he has 30 days to return it.

We have the first edition st jude mono blocks. But he says the sunfire makes the mono blocks seem childish.

Greetings!

I would suggest a Parasound A21.  Link: https://www.parasound.com/halo/a21.php

The Parasound is far superior to the Sunfire.  You can buy one new for about $2,500.  They come with a 10 year Warranty.  This is a time proven, very mature product.  They have been making them for close to 15 years and they have not changed.

Do yourself a favor, do a web search and read the reviews.  You and your husband will thank me later.

These amps were very well reviewed a couple of years ago by many folks.

the only issue with the odyssey is that you're getting less than a third the power of a sunfire 600x2.  only things i know of that keep up with that kind of power are Emotiva... or crappy class D amps.

In an ideal world, I'd have those 2k monoblocks o_0  what a ridiculous amount of power haha
