woke up to find the man cave in slight disarray
« on: May 16, 2015, 12:38:03 PM »
apparently I closed Friday night by digging into the Otari's preamp calibration settings while under the influence of IPA. Seems to have worked cuz I just recorded Patty Barber's Companion LP and it sounds pretty good (there is some incredible bass in that LP - like shake the house bass drum action).  :P

The top board?  Did not know that. But the one that I mess with a lot is the bottom one though.

The bottom one, if it's the bigger one.

The audio amp board is the one at the bottom (low freq comp,  equalization, record/repro levels etc.).  The service manual does not mention that convenience. Will explore it next time I crack it open.  I am now working on a Revox B77 and the Otari is closed up.

My ReVox B77 plays for 15-20 minutes then the left channel dies. Ideas? No smart ass comments please. If I wasn't that I'll just ask BJ.

Try re-seating all the cards,  specially the reproduce amp card, second from the right (and/or take it out and clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol).  Borrow a spare reproduce card from a known good unit and see if that fixes it.   :-\
