Deteriorating LCD display
« on: November 13, 2015, 01:14:31 PM »
Does anyone have any experience fixing, or trying to fix LCD displays?

I have a Harmon Kardon 550 receiver that uses a digital, LCD display to show channel selection  The digit to the left of the decimal point  (FM mode) is crapping out.  Think of the number eight, the bottom, horizontal and lower right hand, vertical segments have quit.  The vertical section will occasionally flicker when the digit displayed doesn't use many segments such a a 1 or 7.

The axial light bulbs behind the display were previously replaced, so I know it's the display and not the back lighting.

My experience with similar problems in other units suggests I need a donor unit and the display will need to be replaced.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.?
