Sure M91ED replacement stylus
« on: February 16, 2016, 08:22:50 PM »
I am looking for guidance or recommendations for a replacement stylus for a Sure M91ED.  I have the cartridge body, but the stylus is unaccounted for.  I want to replace it with something similar, if not the same as the original, but don't know the specs.  Any thoughts?

Screw original specs, get yourself one of these and don't look back.   All the warmth of the 70s with modern detail...

Only if your arm will track light, though.   Those styli like about 1.25g, regardless of the original cartridge spec.

What STaL said. I've got a M91 and two M95's. I don't have the SAS for the 91, but do for the 95. I bought a $12 Pfanstiehl (sp?) and it's a waste of $12. For the 95 I've got a $35 Jico, an original elliptical and the SAS. I've also got a VIII with the SAS via Pepe and they're worth every penny, if money isn't an issue. I will say the $35 Jico is a ok stylus if in a pinch.

JICO recently discontinued the SAS stylii. Can't get parts. Working on next generation down the road. They still offer the standard JICO replacement which is claimed to be similar to OEM original. Try Audio Karma forum, turntable section. Lots of very knowledgeable people there with a wealth of info including reliable source for stylii.

Thanks, all for the input.  I want this for an entry level table and can't imagine dropping $100+ on the stylus.  However, $35 makes sense and I'll look to see what's out there (leftover stock, maybe).

You're welcome to take the $12 stylus I have. If it's for entry level it would be fine. If we're a BMW driver, it would be like someone giving you a Toyota Tercel. I honestly don't ever plan on needing or using it.
