Denon DL110

scorpio333:
Saw a few old threads, but not much. Anyone have experience with this cart? I realize a low output moving coil would be a better upgrade, but I'm not interested at this point in upgrading my pre or getting a SUT. Found a decent deal on one, in today's money, and the curiosity is peaking.

My ears don't care for AT150 sound or Grado, most of my carts now are Shure and I like that tone.

Sir Thrift-a-Lot:
I never used the Denon, but if you decide to unload the 150, I love my 440 and have been wanting to try one of those.

Sir Thrift-a-Lot:
I think I have a couple Shures laying around that perhaps we could use in trade.   I don't care much for them.

The AT150 original stylus snapped. I put a different $30 stylus on it and it sounds like a $30 stylus. I use it for bad beat records that I haven't found upgrades for. Don't want to wreck my SAS styluses or is it stylii...regardless. I have more Shures right now that I have tables for. In fact, I still have a V15 of yours sitting with my extras.

I don't even remember that.

My next question was going to be how many miles on the stylus.   Oh well.   I'll find a cheap 150 some day.

Sorry I don't have any experience with the Denon.   I've heard drops done with it that I like, but no direct experience.   What I heard was about halfway between the Shure warmth and the AT articulation, but I can't guarantee similar results because of system matching, and well, you know, the internet.   You never know for sure if someone's equipment profile is actually true.
