Updated 2 Channel system
« on: February 10, 2010, 12:13:12 PM »
Well, I received my second M-500 from Tom yesterday. So I drug out the Epic CF-3s and hooked them back up to the new amp. The other is driving a pair of Cornwalls. I'm using a C-5 for a Pre and SD/A 450 CD Player. As you can see I am running out of real estate, so I'm not sure where one the the turntables will end up. You can see them in their temporary resting positions.

Here are the amps, It is difficult photographing them with out catching reflections on the faceplate.

Not sure what i will finally end up with for the configuration.

Right now I need to sort out a rack to replace the
chest of drawers. It's funny, you can see the saddleback condition of that chest of drawers from the 35" Mitsubishi tv that was one it for years.

And I thin I'd like to figure out how to tie my itunes library into it

Thanks

Very nice!  You might want to look into a AppleTV so you can access your itunes library.  I highly recommend it.  The only issue is you that you either have to have a tv hooked up to it to see the menu or you can use the remote feature on your iphone if you have one.

First pic is of my tv showing what the apple tv menu/controls look like.  The second pic is what the menu look like on a iphone.

Very nice looking set up. I bet you have no problem rattling those banjos off the wall!!
I am confident that an SL-1200 is capable of outperforming turntables of much higher expense with minor modification.

Not yet, but I do worry about the wall coming apart with my other system.

I am trying to sort through that now. With an Apple TV or Airport Express it looks like there is a mini din coming out. What would I use for a cable to run it into my C-5

Thanks

Very nice setup.

You should be able to find a mini din to RCA adaptor.  Do a search on Google.  Several came up on a search I just did.
Got Carver?

Apple TV has RCA outs.  It has a set of 5 component jacks, 2 audio rca + 3 video rca.

Thanks Rev, I see that for the Apple TV, it also has HDMI for my home theater set up. It's getting mixed reviews on the apple forum though.

Since I don't have video on my 2 channel set up I was looking at this:

I'm guessing I could use a min din to rca splitter.

Or maybe I should just get 2 apple tv's. Maybe the 160 gb local hd will make it play smoother

Well, I walked out of Best Buy $ 500 lighter in the wallet yesterday, but man did I upgrade my systems yesterday.

Bought a few cd's and dvd's, but I also got a Apple TV and an Apple Airport Express. I give the Apple TV an A+, it took me 3 minutes to install it on my home theater set up. It was clean and literally too it 30 seconds to configure the SW. You use standard rca cable and an hdmi cable to hook it up. What a frickin sweet set up.

I give the Airport Express a C- for now, maybe when I'm not so pissed about setting it up I'll upgrade it. I got this so I can use it on my Carver 2 channel set up, so I saved $100 by not getting another Apple TV. The OSD alone is worth the extra hundred bucks. Anyway, it plugs into a wall and you use a min din y connector to connect it to the pre amp. This one I had to upgrade the firmware, usually not so much of an issue, but it triggered a 600 MB Mac upgrade as well. Since I'm on Hughes Satellite ( Hughesway sucks) if you exceed 400 mb download in 24 hrs they lock you out for 24 hrs. It's called their fair access policy. Sooo.. at 2 am when the unrestricted download time begin, the frickin firmware upgrade completed and the stupid thing worked.

Man do they both sound nice. I can sit at my desk and load up play lists for my 2 channel set up and let er rip. On my Home theater I can also use the gui interface and apple remote. Plus I can watch my videos there as well. I'll have to move some of them over there and see how they play.

I've been ripping all my my cd's into itunes all day, what a blast.

One other note, the airport tends to freeze up a little if you try surfing the web while you are in the FAP penalty box and ripping cd's and trying to play it. We'll see how it does when I'm done ripping cd's. The Apple TV has a hard drive, which seems to come in handy.
