Way back in May, a fellow volunteer at the local food bank mentioned he had some records that he wanted to get rid. I got his number but never followed up. Yesterday I saw him and asked if he still had them. He did, and his wife said "come and get them before we throw them out." So after finishing up our Friday distribution, I stopped by his house. This fellow and his wife are in their mid 60s and I was hoping to find a few decent titles but you know how that goes. He opened the garage door and sitting there is big box of records of about 75 records. I gave him a bag of peppers and some tomatoes I had just picked and flipped thru a few titles. Right off, I see some Beatles and Stones. So far, so good. He says he digitized a lot of them and didn't play them anymore. He also insisted that he didn't want any money for them. So I say thanks and took them home.
Going through I find
Stones mono of aftermath, flowers and high tides
Mono yardbirds having raveup
Seven Beatles including number white LP with photos and poster
Stones some girls with all the faces
Amboy dukes journey to the Center Of the mind
Some good Stax stuff
Most have original inserts and all so far are in excellent condition.
Felt like it was a good day!
