« on: June 07, 2021, 06:55:24 AM »

Not that i need more vinyl ......Nevertheless, got to keep the economy humming long so was looking over the releases and interested in a few.  Lee Perry, Creation, Monk in Palo Alto. maybe the Roky Erickson tribute.   Anyone else planning on participating in person?

Do you know anything about the Warren Zevon album?

Released on CD a few years back, it's basically demo tapes that WZ's son found in an old steamer trunk.   I love demos and musical sketches and found a lot to like here, but I know some people aren't into that sort of thing at all, so YMMV.

Went to RSD2021 this morning.  Picked up Carl S, and drove by the Attic at around 7:30 to see the very long line stretched from the store and  around the corner,  a long way up the hill. People were spaced out for social distancing but since I had limited time and couldn't wait in line for another hour or more, we decided to instead try our luck at Music for Your Ear, where we were number 23 and 24 in line when we arrived around 7:45.   Everyone in line was given a card with their number in line and a list of all the releases.  They let 10 folks in at 8 and we followed within ten minutes or so.  All the product was behind the register.  so you lined up by number and named your picks when it was your turn.  They had a limit of 7 titles for your first time thru and no duplicates.  I snagged Quiet Kenny, Monk n Palo Alto, Creation in Stereo, Black Francis, Tangerine Dream Live, Jonathan Richman and Precious Bryant.   Got home around 9:20 and then drove up to Indiana, PA to help get my mother-in-law moved back to her home she spent 2 months in a personal care home after she fell, breaking her hip and needed some rehab.

It was a little odd not handling the records beforehand (or even seeing the prices until you asked for the titles).   I guess you could have researched everything in detail beforehand from the online info.   I forgot about the Lee Perry release but grabbed it onlne from 10000hz records, who had a lot of titles left as of 4PM (plus a flat $5 shipping charge)  Will be giving  a couple a spin later tonight.

Anyone else venture out for some overpriced vinyls???

It was a great time Mike!  The line at the Attiac was crazy.  I am so glad we went to Music to My Ear.

I got the several of the same as Mike and the Steely Dans.  Mike had me home by 9:30.

I will get to listen to these around 2023 or 2024.  I am still opening stuff from 2017 LOL!
