MacGeek:
Thanks, Mark.  I need to do some research.

Sir Thrift-a-Lot:
If you can't find your answer on line and want to just crack this open and see I'm okay with that.

If you check the bottom of the 4002, there is a label indicating the model type (551x, 552x, etc).  Early versions used and A/C motor, which will not work.  Later versions were D/C.

The B&O I have at home are TX and 6002. The motor for the TX is for belt drive and the 6002 is Direct Drive.
Take a look at the picture of the TX motor.

I think I have a 4000 in my office, I can check tomorrow

MacGeek:
Brian and Mark-I did not expect there to be this kind of response to B & O gear.  I don't know if you are fans, or just found your 'tables along the way while looking for other things, but appreciate your help.

Brian,  The B & O 6002 has what is sometimes called magnetic drive and a very different technology than the 4002 uses.  The TX motor will, unfortunately, not fit in the 4002.  Regardless, I might be interested in the 6002.  Does it work?

Mark,  I appreciate your offer and while the motor will not work in my 4002, I might take you up on your offer to poke around in the 5500.  Do either of yours work?

Greg

I love B&O 4000/6000 turntables, in the 70's i purchased a 4000 new from a dealer for 600 UK Pounds, I sold it when I moved to Canada.
Since then i have ha a couple of different 4000/6000 TT in my rig, due to the age of them they only worked for a year or so.

Sorry to tell you, the 6000 I have at the moment does not work, or it would be in my rig.

I did not make it into the office today, to take a look at the one I have there. I will check it out on Tuesday.

Happy New Year.

Brian
