Having owned multiple Magnepan and many dynamic cone speakers, I agree with John Atkinson that all speakers are a compromise. Magnepans throw a huge image, because they are huge - but things that are small in real life - like a flute - may project bigger than you want. The Maggies appear to be great for certain types of music, like jazz or classical. For rock it is a toss up. For front home theater they are not the best.
