Looking for Magnepan MG-IIIA'S
« on: August 25, 2010, 10:17:06 PM »
Since Tom took away my Carver AL-III'S, I need some big speakers to take their place. Actually, I need di-pole panels which are light enough to move about, and have the typical di-pole resistance to bass room coupling.  So, a set of MG-3a would work.  Not the QR's, or the older Magneplanars. Never liked the low midrange in the 2.5's or 2.6's, although they had a great ribbon - just ask Tom. 3.3's on up would be nice, but I can't afford them and the 3a's can be tweaked.

Should someone have a good working set to sell or trade, let me know.  Possible/partial trades include better then new Dahlquist DQ-10's with mint stands; ESS AMT-1C's, which were the best version they made.  After that ESS went to a lower efficiency magnet system, dropping the Heil down to 92 db/watt/meter from 97db/watt/meter , and poorly constructed enclosures, etc. The 1c's in-phase crossovers were designed by Von Schweikert, of Von Schweikert Audio.

Thanks for space to post...
