I finally broke down and opened up this Rhino 180g reissue of "Young, Loud and Snotty," I found years ago in a used bin. I was trying to hold off until I was ready to rip it but I figure it needs a few plays first anyway. It sounds like shit  :D but its too good of a record for me to care.

For now...
Yamaha HTR 5250 (24/96 DAC)
Technics 1200 M3D w/ various Shure DJ carts
Philips 212 w/ Pickering XSV 3000
Ecler Nuo4 mixer/phono stage (RCA outs set to 1V)
Polk LS50
JBL4311B
Cog media player/Macbook Pro PCM via miniTosLink

possible trade: 1200MK2(s) for SS amp(s) (no integrated pls)

Ajaye, if you do rip this LP, PLEASE let me obtain a copy of it.

I have it on CD, but, again, the quality is very poor. I don't see how the vinyl copy could sound worse. :)

I Need Lunch and Sonic Reducer are absolutely badass.

I have the original on vinyl.  I grew up on punk/hardcore, most of my record collection is in this genre.  Overall, the audio quality is definitely not good.  Even re-issues still sound like ass but what do you expect.  Most of these recordings were made in low budget home studios.

No problem. This is one of my all time favorite NY (by way of Ohio!) "punk" albums. If you look at the back of your CD, it probably says in the credits "special thanks Bob Clearmountain." He actually played bass on the album because Magnum quit or got fired or something. I wish he engineered it too, I had higher hopes for this "exact replica of the original release." or however Rhino words it.

Reverend I think is pretty much confirming my suspicions, just a poorly engineered record.

Well, what I have is a CD that was ripped from the original at 128kb/s, so on top of poor mastering, it's just poor quality.

I don't suppose you own any Rocket from the Tombs, do you? They never officially released anything, but, high quality bootlegs are existent, although rare. :)

I have one or two of their recent reunion albums which I think one was on a local pittsburgh record label.  I think I have a bootleg but it's probably on tape who knows where.
