Like a Puma
« on: November 11, 2010, 12:13:14 AM »
The Audio Gods have smiled upon me once again.
An incredible deal fell in my lap to dramatically upgrade my HT, and I did not hesitate.

I just landed a NOS AudioControl Maestro M2 Preamp / Surround processor.
That left me with a dilemma though, since I did not have an amplifier.
Not to worry, Tom's shop came to the rescue; It is now married with a Carver AV-705x 5 channel THX certified amp.

It is one hell of a combination, and is a far cry from the Harman/Kardon AVR240 that it replaced.
Not only is it a fantastic Surround Processor, but it functions well for 2 channel listening as well!
I am enjoying it thoroughly.

What could possibly be better? It is Wife approved.  Score!

What could be better? How about approval by the wife and her girlfriend?  ;D ;D

I'll bet it sounds fantastic! Awesome pickup(s)!

Lol, here's irony for ya - After I had it all hooked up, I couldn't resist turning the dial.
My children were asking ME to turn the music DOWN!

Haha.. I wonder if that's ever happened before?

I had my system on the 4th floor of my house in Regent Square. The lady on the 1st floor was in her 80's. She called me one night and told me her pots and pans were rattling. The kicker is what happened when I apologized. She was like "Oh, no honey, I'm not upset, I just want to come see what it is that makes all that raucous!" She came upstairs and was like "Oh my honey, my husband woulda been out on the street before he bought a contraption like that!"

Very nice!
I am confident that an SL-1200 is capable of outperforming turntables of much higher expense with minor modification.

You keep going deeper down the rabbit hole.  Next you will want a Sunfire Cinema Grand amp.
Got Carver?

OCCD is already planting the seed for that upgrade path.......
