Title: $350 to replace my 02 Sensor! Grrrrrr!
Post by: e_just on December 15, 2009, 11:47:22 AM
Well, so much for buying anything cool for a little while.
My check engine light has been going off and on for the past few weeks, it did this last winter too. Unfortunately, I have a bad 02 sensor and need to replace it to pass inspection by the end of the month. At first I thought the price was a bit hi so I got a second opinion and it was in the same ballpark. After paying for inspection and emission, I'll be paying well over $400 Ouch!
Just venting. Grrrr!

That's a rip.

They're not that hard to replace

What make/model is your car?  Depending on the car it can be done in like 30 minutes and cost like $60 for the parts.

Thats what I thought. I have an 04 Pontiac Vibe and I have seen the sensor for sale on a few websites for around $100. The problem is, I don't have any way to get under my car to do the fix, I don't own those ramp looking things and im far from a mechanic. But I do agree that it looks like a simple fix, I watched some youtube videos on this.

I figured I move it.  So here it is now.

I just dropped $600 to get my ABS fixed about a month ago.

Just dropped $525 for a nasty oil leak , seized 4x4 shifter, and other assorted BS. My mechanis was able to piece the truck back together without buying the very pricey Ford factory parts. Got a new sticker though. I am ready to run over deer and Priuses all winter long. :o
