Title: Magenta ADE-24 Analog/Digital Enhancer
Post by: non-prophet on March 02, 2015, 06:17:16 PM
I recently got this strange audio "tweak" and see if anyone here would be interested, I am not.  The owner told me its new/unused and I have the box and manual.  Hecho en mexico!  So, it must be quality.  Retail looks to be between $190-250 and was made in early 2000s.  All the reviews are stellar.  Here first before ebay.  PM me for price.  Thank you for looking.

Interesting, if not dated, reviews.  Have you listened to it and if so, what are your thoughts?

I am a purist, I like my sound coloration coming only from my tube choices in the front end of my system.  I have no interest in adding what I would guess is distortion to the sound, probably works in mid-fi, probably doesn't in hifi.  Since, it is unused, I do not have the patience to wait for proper burn in (200 hours or so), unless you're Crites and that doesn't exist.  I have to say the reviews are ridiculously positive, almost too positive.  That is it.  Nick

I agree with your observation about the reviews.  Also noticed the distortion spec is 1 1/2 percent, a figure higher than any piece of gear I have owned since middle school.

While I am not a purist, as defined in one of the reviews, I generally don't like adding to the signal chain.  Thanks for your candor.

Interesting device!  I'd probably play with it for a couple hours and put it aside.  It could be fun.
