Finally got to hear the JBLs.... in a word, surprising. Nice big sound and actually filled Pepe's monster man cave. Not saying they were up to the Amazing's standard nor my KEFs, but surprised they could do what they did and well worth the price. I'm sure that in the history of those speakers though, nowhere on earth have they been pushed with so much power nor with such good equipment lol

Note that the speakers can be biamped,  and the binding posts are of better-then-typical quality. The crossover has a two position selector (you need a flat blade screw driver to switch it) to control tweeter output - "0 db" and "+2db".  I have played around with it quite a bit and landed on liking the 0 db position better for most programs.

The dome tweeter is loaded by a  fairly large horn:

I like these speakers for not too much dough:

Pepe, those are darned near conventional speakers.   What are they doing at your place.   Next think you know you'll be Jonesing for some NLAs!

I am able to appreciate normal speakers ::).   The Amazings' baffles are still in the paint booth (aka my garage). Every time I think I am ready to primerI find new tiny scratches and the sanding process restarts.  ^-^

Pepe,

What did you ever do with those Original Large Advents I traded you for that Sansui 7000 receiver?

Hmm  - I remember them,  but I do not remember what the hell I did with them.  Probably traded them for something else,  but my memory is weak on where they went. ???

The JBLs SVAs are going back to the store this weekend.   Someone should get them off of Tom's hands for cash.  Very nice floorstanders.    I imagine they would sound even better with improved cross-over components.
