I bought this amp from Ian (vstakrwell). Special thanks to Tom, Dan, and Mark for sharing their experience and skill in helping me complete this job.
Stuff I did: Replaced the .0047 and .047 coupling caps with .01 and .1 caps, respectively, added the kick-ass rhodium speaker binding posts, added additional RCA jacks for daisy-chaining, added a 30 amp rocker switch for power, changed all out of spec resistors, changed the output stage wiring to 10 gauge, changed the power wire to 10 gauge with a 3 amp fuse holder in line, added a Sunfire knob to the hum pot, added red Oak sides, put a detachable power cable on the rear panel, polished the chassis, and um... If I think of anything else, I'll add it.
This amp sounds AMAZING with the Klipsch KG 5.2s.

Very nice work!

Very nice!!!!! Congrats! :)
-
Great Job! I'm sure it sounds awesome.
-
Very cool SD!!!!!, I dreamed of doing this myself but alas I have neither the skills or patience to have pulled this off. Where's the Magnavox logo pin????
-
It's still in the box, Ian.
I haven't had a chance to pick up any trim adhesive since I finished the wood. Don't worry, it'll be on there before it's all said and done!
Thanks again for the amp. I'm sure you could have pulled this off!
-
Looks great!
-
Congrats SD! That looks really cool! I'll bet it sounds great. ;D
-
Beautiful work Elijah!! That is one nice looking amp. You need to bring it to the house and audition speakers you might want. I still got way too many.
-
You know which speakers I want, Scott.
Unfortunately you shot me down today when I texted you about them.
Maybe I'll stop by tomorrow if you're around.
-
I got others. ;D

I'd probably stay with my 5.2's over the Tylers. I'm getting solid output down to 35 Hz. I don't want to give that up. :)
-
Looks great!!! better than you hinted at last night. Are you a tubist now?
-
Very nice work! I might be picking up a 6v6 Magnavox. Maybe I will let you schnaz it up! :P Glad you like it! Maybe one of these days I will get to give it a listen! I could probably even get a good salsa record to try it out! :P Just kidding, but seriously I bet that amp with your speakers sounds great.
-
Thanks for all the positive words guys. I really appreciate it.
Am I a tubist now? Hmm... I'm sure eventually I'll come to miss the solid state "slam" and go back to the 504.
It's nice to have options, though. :)
-
Very nice work on that amp. Glad you went with the polish, just fantastic..
-
Nice work SD! Those are pretty good amps.
-
Thanks again guys. Especially Mike, it means a lot coming from someone with your experience.
I'll make it to the shop with this thing eventually. :)
-
Since I promised Ian a picture with the Maggotbox emblem:

Very very nice. You should be proud of it.
-
Cool!!!!!!!!
-
It does sound as good as it looks.
-
8W,
Beautiful job there. I hope to have something half as nice one day!
Mike
-
Thanks.
I've done a couple more since then. A few are still in the works. I really should post that sort of thing on here, but, I figure AK / DIYAudio / DIYTube / AA are all chalked full of that sort of thing. What's one more gonna do? ???
-
I really should post that sort of thing on here
Yes, you should. There are local "hang outs" and there are national hang outs. It's way cooler to see what someone you've actually met has been able to accomplish.

Looking good! Nice work!
