A true day of mourning for all Star Trek lovers...http://youtu.be/eVIt0DYKssI (http://youtu.be/eVIt0DYKssI)

A sad day indeed. He was an iconic figure and will be forever remembered as Spock. Had a great career as a narrator, but he could never play another film character. RIP Mr. Spock!

Sad indeed RIP Spock.

He stopped smoking 30 years ago. Still, the damage was done.
f**k you cancer, and COPD, and specially the stupid little paper sticks we refer to as cigarrettes.
-
Guessing that he quit in 1985 when he was 53. So he probably smoked for 30 years or more would be my estimate. Thats a lot of damage to undo. The body is pretty amazing but still. I know several people who smoked up until that pesky Surgeon General report in the early 60s came out and they are still kicking.

Agree - I prefer to think he would have died much earlier had he not stopped at 53. Still, cancer is a complicated, cell division gone wild, so who knows. My wife smokes a pack a day and I gave up trying to convince her to stop - it was bad for my health.
Good night to pull out a Star Trek blueray and celebrate the old vulcan.
