I think you should add the 2230 to your list.   It's my daily driver and it has a really great phono stage.   Grab some of my drops from the media thread and give them a listen.

+1, I always loved the sound of a 2230.  I had one for many years.

All of my Marantz pieces have factory wood cases and all the components sound great!  These were all the flagshipp models of the early and mid 70"s

I didn't realize the 6300 table was acclaimed.   It is another CEC build, like many of the Fishers and Sanyos of the era (as well as many store brands).   All very good, under-rated tables.   The Marantz is the only CEC table I know of that isn't "under rated" just because people (with good reason of course) love the Marantz name.

I love the wooden cabinets.   I wish mine had one.

That's cool.   People never believe me when I tell them how good my Fisher is, either.   It was not displaced by several "better" turntables until my JVC QL-A7 (another sleeper) came along.

That table is probably what started my "give away system" tradition.   I kept buying tables that were supposed to be better then gave them away afterwards because they weren't.

Thanks for the kind words folks!

The turntable is a decent performing table.  It's good looks of nice vaneer and polished aluminum, smoked plastic cover appears to the Marantz collectors.

I checked eBay "Sold listings" for shits and giggles.  A complete, working 6300 in very good condition has been selling for between $500 - $1,000.  Average about $700.  I was a little surprised by the price which I believe is driven by the collector and not the audiophile.

Absolutely.   My QL-A7 will stomp all over it and make it cry for it's mother, but it an be had for a buck and a half because it is "only" a JVC.
