Title: 3 way crossover with 2 speakers
Post by: scorpio333 on September 12, 2015, 11:07:28 PM
Brainstorming an idea for a small project. In a typical speaker with tweeter, mid, woofer...is it ok to use just the tweeter and mid? I would cap off the leads to the woofer.

I think you would put a resistor of the same value as the woofer across the leads.

Yes. You can do that.  Just leave the woofer leads disconnected.  Usually the woofer impedance determines the over all speaker impedance so I'm not sure what your amp will see (8 ohms, 4 ohms, etc) but I highly doubt
any harm will come.  I suspect the over system Z will now be determined by the midrange.

Good luck.

Should not be an issue, give it a try!
