Title: How to strip tonearm wire>?
Post by: Slim-Shaddy on January 29, 2012, 02:09:00 PM
While working on repairing a Pioneer PL-530 I snapped a tonearm wire while trying to strip it. I'm obviously a novice and I tried to gently pull off the insulation with my thumb nail. Wrong idea I guess. I'm going to order new wire and I don't want to make the same mistake again. Please advise!! :o :o

Since I'm the king of breaking tonearm wires  :P the way I strip the insulation might not be the best or correct way but it works well for me.  I have a little hand held butane torch and will burn the sleeving off.  You have to make sure to lightly sand/clean up the end that is burnt afterwards.

Thanks rev, I'll give that a shot once I order and receive the wire.
