So recently I got a huge bulk of stuff for $800.
TGR 3 w/remote & manual 8.5/10 scuffs
2x Sunfire CRM 2 8/10 one missing grills, one missing 2 of the rubber feet
Sunfire CRS 3c 9/10 I just need to dust it
Sunfire CRM 2c 6.5/10 the drivers have light dents (hopefully this can be fixed), no grill
Sunfire CRW 3 6/10 drivers are dented, no grill, dusty
Sunfire 12 inch True Signature EQ Subwoofer 8.5/10 the equivilant of a grill has some pegs that are snapped (fixable)?
Sunfire 10 inch True Subwoofer Mk II 9/10 just really needs cleaned
2x Elan THP650LS book shelf speakers 8.5/10 one of the grills doesn't have the connecting pegs
I am pretty sure I am going to keep the subwoofers, the TGR3, and maybe the CRM 2s. I will try to take the damaged to Tom to get fixed up and then everything else mentioned will be for sale. However, I might end up having to part with the CRM 2s for a decent price as well as probably the 12 inch subwoofer. I will also be selling my HSU STF-1 subwoofer if anyone is interested for on this forum $150.
A quick question I have about the TGR 3. The HDMI only transmits video, not audio; because of this I am considering keeping the TGR3 and giving my father my previous receiver, a Pioneer Elite VSX 91 TXH. He wants simplicity in wiring and this seems like it will be more difficult. If I keep the TGR 3 I am not sure how I can connect it to my laptop. My current method is through HDMI. I was thinking of trying to find a converter from HDMI to an optical and video only bearing HDMI or maybe some other format that you think might work better? Thanks in advance.

Congrats on the SCORE!!!
When you can, please post pics of the stuff... Even the stuff you're KEEPING!!! ;D
If dents are in dust caps, can be fixed with duct tape or a vacuum hose... I have some speaker grill pegs...
Enjoy!!!

Great deal and a lot of great equipment. You definitely scored for $800.
Personally I would go optical for you computer audio output as the DAC's in the Theater Grand's are very good.
-
OMG :o what a score. Rev is right on track. Toslink cable and you are jamming from your laptop.
-
Excellent score!!! You robbed the guy!!! :o if you decide to sell the CRM-2's I got a friend that would be interested for a reasonable price. PM me.....
-
Jesus, you didnt rob him, you beat him senseless and left him naked and lying in a ditch at that price.
The CRM-2's are on my list of speakers I want to try in my office setup for sure....
-
I might be interested in some of this gear depending on the prices your looking for....

How bout the Elans???? Price to the Southern Commander???? ;)
-
Sorry guys, Pepe has first dibs on the CRM2s if I decide to sell. As far as using an optical from the computer I would do that if it had an optical port. The only ports I have are the HDMI and headphone as far as transferring audio. I will look for my digital camera and if I can manage I will come to the shop probably on the 20th and bring pretty much everything.
-
No worries. I figured the CRM-2s were already taken lol. They never last long

How bout the Elans???? Price to the Southern Commander???? ;)
I honestly have no clue what a good price for those is. Pretty sure they are in almost perfect condition and went for 600ish each when they came out in I believe 2007? Still trying to get information on them. Shoot me an offer.
-
Bummer that the headphone jack doesnt have a toslink nestled in there too.
Many laptops are beginning to include them - kindof surprising since you have hdmi out.
Fwiw, there is such a thing as an hdmi audio De-embedder which will split out the audio signal
into a standard s/pdif optical out. They are a little pricey, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

May the original owner, who had such good taste in electronics, rest if peace. May his son get good karma for selling the stuff to Steve at a decent price. And may we treat this vintage stuff with the utmost care as it rotates between us through exchanges of cash and gear, lovingly replacing the capacitors and other components as they age. Amen.

So I finally took some pictures of the Elan speakers. Sorry they are not great photos but you can get the idea from them. http://img28.imageshack.us/slideshow/webplayer.php?id=img0420olo.jpg (http://img28.imageshack.us/slideshow/webplayer.php?id=img0420olo.jpg)

What is your take on the Elans' sound?
-
Clean crisp sound. It can be adjusted so that it can be warmer or brighter and also adjusted for if their is a subwoofer. I am not real sure what my opinion of these settings is but they do sound nice. I need to remove the one tweeter to see if it has a bad connection or if is a bigger problem.
