Post by: schwarcw on May 24, 2016, 10:09:45 PM
I plan to be there!

We should have a nice turn out.  The Facebook page has received a lot of visits.  I expect some new people, old friends, good music and a good time for all!

I will see you there!

Last year everybody wanted small speakers.   I am well stocked on small speakers this year (I cleaned and loaded seven pair into the car tonight).

I'll be there as well.  If anyone living North (McCandless/North Park area) wants a ride, let me know.

Planning on stopping by. Anyone have any interest in me bring freebie records? Most are from Jerry's free boxes or leftovers from a couple crates I bought. If not they're going to goodwill.

Put 'em on my table if you want (unless Nick or Carl say that is breaking a rule).

Great news you folks can be there!  Freebie anything is always welcome!  Bring it on!

If you want to drop off items at Nick's on Friday night he told me that he would be available.  I hear that there is some great stuff going to be there.  It's going to be a good time.  I'll see you there.  >:D

I just finished buttoning up the fast and furious rehab of the Rectilinear Highboys.   What really wonderful sounding speakers.   I'll admit, when I looked at them I was skeptical.   Four tweeters, mounted in a seemingly random fashion all over the baffle.   They look very Kabuki.   But when I cranked up Aja on them, I was an instant believer.   Tight, authoritative bass, warm mids and a really nice shimmer.   I'm guessing they aren't highly sensitive about placement either.   I left them playing as I was putting them away and they even sounded good stacked on their sides facing a wall!

See you then!   I'm hoping to actually set up a system this year.   Not that I'm complaining, but last year everything was selling so fast that I never did get to set up a demo system.   If any of you guys haven't heard Rectilinears, I want you to.   They look like noting special at all, in fact they look like they shouldn't sound good, but they do.

Pictures.  Seems like I was (AGAIN) the only one that took pictures.  Will post a few here:

I liked these EPI by Dale's table:

And the tables were full of interesting stuff:

The Emptek sub was there (did someone buy it?  I am keeping track of its ancestry from Raynist to me to Carl to JimP...),  and I bought that pair of VTL Compact 80 Monoblocks:

Lots of good vinyl on the floor, great selection,  most in good condition:

Mark's (STAL's) table (I successfully traded Mark an ipad mini and a harmony remote for a bunch of vinyl and a bad ass TOTL VCR,  not ashamed of the latter) :

Mike's table.  I was tempted to go for that shortwave radio:

I documented some shenanigans involving expensive power cords (tsk tsk - do not take naps at the fest!):

I enjoyed my time there,  always good to see the usual suspects.  I understand I missed the best tape deck deals by arriving late (heard a tale that an RT701 went for 20 bucks,  and [allegedly] the ultimate hoarder [OCCD] scored several RT909s from a studio before I could weigh in.  Stuff happens,  what can you do?).

Regards,

OBG

Looks like some nice stuff there.  One of these years I might make it.  Saturdays off are tough, holiday Saturdays are verboten!

I thought they were a bit shrill, but my Bullnose Advents also sounded shrill to me there, so it could have been the room.   Speaker/room symbiosis is so important.

Agree, the garage's concrete floor and walls did not help the acoustics.  We should file a request with the owner to please install acoustic treatments on the walls for next year's event  >:D.

I liked the way the EPIs sounded,  but liked the idea of them existing as a product even more.  Every time I think I have seen every vintage speaker ever, one of these unique designs comes up and quashes that theory.  Never saw that electrostat tweeter before.

Didn't he say he would be treating the place with fire if it wasn't sold by next year?   LOL
