Title: Hello All!!!!
Post by: PewterTa on April 23, 2011, 06:21:38 PM
I just wanted to say HI!

My name is Dan, I'm a friend of Bill (WKHanna on here) and I decided to join up and see what's going on!  I'm a definite audiophile and never knew it until I started hanging out with Bill how good my ears are, I can often pick out slight nuances from music/system... I'm guessing like a "super taster" does for picking out the different ingredients from food...  I do it with music.  I can tell differences and not necessarily what is "better" as that I feel is subject to each person.  I know what I like and what level I'm trying to get to... I just don't have the money to do it!  LOL

My current addiction is getting into vinyl (thanks to Bill).  I realize how much better mastered most vinyl is and it's brought a whole new liking. I don't current have anything vinyl, but that's the next step.  Right though I'm working with hi-res 24/96Khz digital that I have to say is identical to the vinyl it was pulled from...  So this is a new excitement for me to get and convert tons of vinyl to hi-res files so I don't have to worry about cleaning/maintaining/and storing.

My system comprises of:
Rotel RSP-1098, RB-1090
B&W 604s3 (completely rewired for a nice upgrade to their sound quality, crossovers might be done up point to point for a better increase)
Cambridge Audio Azur 840c CDP (hi-res files digital vinyl files get pushed through this)
All interconnects are CatCables Silver Cats.
Toslink is all glass cabling
Speaker cables are bi-wired from the RB-1090 to speakers with CatCables copper wires.

Welcome Dan! Looks like you have some pretty nice gear! Good luck on your vinyl journey. There are a bunch of new bands out there putting their music on vinyl and most of it is the 180 gram version.

This guy is a poser!    His nickname is ‘Tin Ears’!     Ban him from the site!

Just kidding!!!!!!

I have known Dan for over 4 years now. He has been instrumental in bringing my system to where it is sonically, offering accurate & knowledgeable advice and help.

His IT skills are amazing, but it is his ability for discerning the slightest nuances in system changes that never ceases to impress me.

Dan was more focused on multi-ch when we first met, but has become more and more interested in 2-ch since hanging out with me & my system. He always had respect for my C-19 BUT, since I just had Dr Tom perform his Shamon dance & sprinkle the magic Fairy Dust on it, Dan is now ready to get one for his system.

Anyway, it’s great to have you here, Dan.

And don't worry...most of us here are harmless, for the most part ;)
