Thank you Tom and Rev for your help transporting and setting them up. Will report more as time rolls on and I break even the ribbons and fine tume toe in etc.

Do you have the power on?

Looking good Pepe! Good luck with the new Carver Plats!
-
I wanna hear them.
-
Looking forward to your review. Enjoy the music!!!
-
I want to voice the room, then hear them:)
-
I would like to hear them after that too.

Thanks all. I need to work on improving how the woofs are coupled with the baffles because there is some vibration there, but looks to be an easy fix. The ribbons sound fantastic to me. We connected them first with the Onkyo driving the ribbons and the Aragon the woofs. Sounded good but not enough power. We then connected the Sunfire 400x5 and they woke up (800 watts [4 ohm] times 4 will wake up any speaker). I need to work on better cables [outsourced some of that to River Current in Bethel] and any additional camber, tilt, etc. adjustments.
The Infinitys arrived at their new home in New York, a church being restored as a house. I hope to go visit with them the next time I pass by NY:

Will keep you all posted and write review-like comments as I gain experience with them.

Now THAT's a bedroom system!
-
I wonder why there are pews in the bedroom. lol where are the cameras.
-
Cuz they turned the church into their house. The acoustics should be good!
-
There is a bed, but maybe it's not a bedroom.
-
those plats would sound GREAT with some 305's
-
I don't know about the 305's, but, The last set I heard were paired with a Lightstar at the old shop. The impact and dynamics were pretty damn stellar.
Lightstar(s), Pepe. That's what you need now.
-
Nope, he needs a set of 700's. >:D
-
Pepe!
Have you added some weight like sandbags or heavy blocks to the base to hold the flimsy frame steady and anchored down?

The Plats are 8 ohm.

Yep, that helps a lot. Before you do, make sure the screws holding the bottom plate to the panel are tight. I actually increased the screw size for better holding power.
-
@F1 - we removed the original Plat x-over from the the circuit. An active cross-over is handling the frequency split. As I understand, the load the amps are seeing is now 4 ohms - that is what the experts tell me. Do you know different?
-
He's assuming they are stock. Your's are 4ohm.
-
These have no factory x overs connected up.

Listen to what your uncle Jesse says. Bo and Luke are driving over there now in the 'ole General Lee!

The sand bags and titanium brace with heavy duty screws advice from Dr. Jesse will not be ignored. A flight plan for a trip to Ace Hardware has already been filed w FAA for Saturday to secure the materials. I may replace the sand bag idea with weights from my seldom-used free-weight set. The baffle definitely flexes too much as-is if you touch the top of the speakers. Four woofers trying to move the air in front of them in an open-baffle design generate enough thrust to benefit from better bracing. The bass is tight as-is, however, in defense of uncle Bob's design.
:P
PS: Rev - You rule. I would be an idiot not to buy those.
-
Iron plates work well! The more the better!

Ah, I didn't know you are using active crossovers. Carry on.
-
bags of lead shot also work well
-
Absolutely fantastic Pepe. Way to go Sir. I'm impressed to say the least.--------Bill

I always felt Plat's needed struts from the base to 3/4 way up on the panels. Like moly tubing with Heim joints. :) Very nice Pepe! I had some Silvers once upon a time. High marks on the active.
