Thought that this topic might be fun... and draw a little ire I'm sure, but you have to admit that there are actually artists and groups that will never ever be played on your system. Here are a few that are on my list. lol
- the Monkeys
- the Carpenters
-Bobby Sherman
-Jim Nabors
-Liberace
-Engelbert Humperdinck
-Barry Manilow
-most country western except Willie, Hank, Johnny and and a very few others
-
Everything on your list, minus the country. There is some country I like, not much though.
ABBA
Petula Clark
Hip hop/rap
The Clarks
Lawrence Welk
Herb Alpert
-
Bread

I love The Monkees. I can't say there are any artists who will never be played on my system, but I don't listen to Tom Waits by choice.
-
Elton John
-
Liberace for sure - not quite clear to me why that cat was so popular.
I admit to not liking heavy metal, though I own two Sword albums that I plan to donate to Rev at some point.

Acid rock n roll, most opera and most country. No rap, and nothing poorly recorded, including most doo wop. Exceptions made for some cross over stuff from these genres and things very well recorded (at least once).
-
Tiny Tim
Jay-Z
Doris Day
Pat Boone
I could go on and on!
-
most opera
You say "most" opera. Which pieces do you find most agreeable/disagreeable?
-
I can handle opera around the holidays. I have had a CD for about 20 years now of A Carnegie Hall Christmas Concert, with Kathleen Battle, Frederica von Stade, Wynton Marsalis and Andre Previn that still blows me away.
-
The Beatles. Not only do I find 99% of their music repulsive, but their recording quality is even worse. People always try to say "that's all they had back then". I've heard recordings that are at least a decade older than anything the beatles recorded, and they sounded great, so that excuse doesn't work for me. I realize I'm probably alone on this one, but I think nothing about the beatles screams talent or quality.
-
I can't say there's anything that I simply would not play on my system, though I certainly like some things better than others.
-
I'm loving this list and comments.... surprised a bit by the many common artists and genre here.
But I'm serious that Debbie Boone, the Monkeys, Jim Nabors, Bobby Sherman & Liberace, bubble gum music etc. will never play on my CA turntable... and my KEF speakers will never be subjected to that pain...lol I don't know what I'd do, if a guest brought one of these artists / albums to play.... I'm pretty darn courteous, but that may well be too much even for me. Maybe the garage system???? I use that for anything in borderline condition anyway.

Wow, bj, just wow.
-
Forgot one:
Frank Zappa.
-
I'm not real big on Frank, but Adrian Belew played on a couple of his records, and I love anything Belew related. On "Sheik Yerbouti" Adrian sings one in a Bob Dylan impersonation. Really good and funny.

No gangster rap stuff or grunge, punk rock, willing to give most anything else a chance, though sometimes only a short listen.
