Title: Zenith Console Stereo...
Post by: gdv on May 03, 2014, 01:25:00 PM
My neighbor asked if I wanted a console in his basement...  It is a Zenith...  I took some pics, but am having trouble locating my cable for camera to upload pictures.  It is SIMILAR to the ebay link below, BUT not exactly...  Looks similar, center cabinet opens, metal record player which pulls out.  He turned unit on tubes light up...  Not sure if record player works...  How much might he get for this?

Tubes look like 12AX7 & 6825 & more...

TIA,
George

Probably not what he wants to hear, but I typically pay in the $10-25 range for these.

Agreed.   I went $35 for my SC, but I got Scott, RCA and Maggotbox for $10 each.   Most people seem to be happy to not need to pay someone to haul it away (like Scott with his 35" TV).

Nice project.  However, any console is worth about 50% of the tube value. Assuming tubes are good.  Telefunken $$$$$$$$  Dullards $$$$$$

gdv, you wrote the ad for him?   Had I written the ad, it would have said "tubes" and "horns" somewhere as those are often used search terms (and often the only interesting thing about a console >:D).

Tubes and horns, right down the street...

I DON'T need another project.   I DON'T need another project.   I DON'T need another project.   I DON'T need another project.   I DON'T need another project.   I DON'T need another project.   I DON'T need another project.

If it doesn't move in a week let me know.

STaL, why didn't you write the ad?

I'm too busy running pointy implements through perfectly good surrounds.

That is a great looking console IMHO, even if you gut her and place in the tube amp of your choice. the front opening consoles are great for custom jobs. i had to talk myself out of writing that guy.... all i saw was the Klipsch 4.2's in her with pair of swapable tube amps and preamp and one of my Dual TT's.. i am digging that console but i have No room left...  but i dig the MCM design.
And yes, the Tubes and Horns works 70% of the time,  every time....
