One man's trash is another's treasure. Someone attempted to repair the motor board and completely destroyed it. The table was running at 103.9 RPM. New board, degreased, regreased and setup. Everything works as it should.
The dust cover has the normal small cracks and was not in great shape:

Yikes. There was an equal amount of hair on the bottom of the TT. Tape and tweezers got as many as I could.

The dust cover came out fairly good, from a few feet away it looks fine.

Got to say this was the easiest Dual I've worked on. Pretty stripped down for full auto, no VTA, no stacker.

As usual, nice job...
Glad you were able to use/fix "junk!!!" :)
-
nicely done
-
I said you were the guru.
-
Excellent job. How does it perfrom compared to the Technics?
-
Thanks guys. Still not feeling worthy of guru, maybe if I get my 1249 working correctly.
As for the 621 vs 1400. To my ears there's not much difference at all. Comparing the tables, they are both direct drives, but do it very differently.
The 1400 weighs a solid metric ton (26lbs). The dust cover and hinges are top notch, heavy, smooth, solid. It has adjustable VTA, auto return, cheap Japanese engineering plastic inside, servos, late 70's space age tech e.g. the pitch control.
The 621 is not very heavy and the base/dust covers were/are delicate. Auto start/return, more simple mechanics and less electronics. Can do 78 or CD4.
Like I said the sound is pretty close, I'm biased but I'd give the Dual the edge for tracking ability on rougher/not flat records.

Is this the table that was on CL and advertised as spinning at 100 mph?
-
Yep.
-
Great job! I likey!!! 😎

I leave the amp on 24-7. At 3AM my son woke up screaming, I'm half oriented and all I hear is OHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMM coming from the living room. One of the original RCA leads was very unhappy. Back to the bench...
-
I hate when that happens.
