Hello everyone,
Just joined the site. I'm becoming an audiofile again. For you Carver fans, I just bought a Carver Cinema Grand *5 amplifier. Have to admit I didn't know much if anything at all about vintage gear. I do know the Carver name. I was originally looking for something with the latest and greatest gear: Emotiva XPA 5/7, Parasound a51+ or Monolith 5/7. I then went on audiogon . I then noticed the Carver amp. Curiosity got the better me and after research upon research and reviews upon reviews, I pulled the trigger at 750.00.. It's a twenty year old amp. I then knew I was probably on borrowed time as far as peak performance. I researched who could troubleshoot such a relic. "Bill Flannery can". So fast forward, I spoke to him and ended up just shipping the unit to him to rebuild whatever he saw fit. I knew after a few seconds of speaking with him, he has integrity and he loves his job, specifically these amps. The amp is expected to get there today.
Gear:3.1
Carver HTA5A
Marantz-7705
Pioneer Elite sp-efs73 floor standers, sp-ec-73 center and 2 sp-ebs72 bookshelves Andrew Jones Speakers-another product I never would have purchased until I listened to them.
Looking forward to mixing it up in here.
