just got 95% of my amd recapped. ordered the wrong size caps for the middle rail, and forgot to order a small powersupply cap as well as the two in the pre-amp board. so almost there. i replaced most all of the small trasistors in the amp as well. i also found a issue were somebody replaced a tip35c with a tip36c. i do not understand how the amps did not destruct, but it did not. it just had 98v where it should have been 56v or so. anyway, now it correct, other than a few diodes that were bad as well, i am almost done. this started with the amp having a low/small buzz in both channels. i am sooooo getting/coming up to speed on the repair of these tfm 35's and 55's.

Be interested on your report on sound improvements. Is this your first recap? did you use standard replacements or improved components? My first recap attempt with an old Parasound HCA-600 amp crashed and burned, had to put the original caps back on - not sure what the heck I did wrong.
