I have a Leak amp that I have been looking for a way to safely use and display with my autistic son who has impulse control issues. I have feared him either a) burning himself on a tube or b) breaking one or more of my Mullards.
I was at Vintage HiFi the other day and saw Tom working on a Jolida 1000. The way it is designed protects the tubes and allows them to be seen. It also provides for adequate ventilation. So I got to thinking that perhaps I could find a similar case from a computer server or something else that I could repurpose as a case for my Leak Stereo 20. Any ideas? TIA.

You could have a tube cage made by a good metal fabrication shop.
-
Thrifty, lets talk next week. I can help.
Regards,
Carl

Thanks Carl. That is an intriguing, semi-mysterious answer, but I'll take all the help I can get.

Easy. Attend an audio show with a friend, find the right room, one of you create a diversion while the other snags a tube cage... >:D ;D

I was working on the Jolida and my name isn't Tom.
-
I saw each of you with hands on it at different times. Touchy.
-
Sorry but i'm tired of people giving Tom the credit when I do the work.
Makes me feel a bit disrespected.

I appreciate you Anders. Thank you for all the work you have done for me. The 700 Phase Linear is at the shop awaiting your touch before Carverfest.

No disrespect intended, Anders. Who was holding the amp was far from the central point of the story. When you do some work for me, I promise I'll heap praises on you (as long as the work is good, of course, which I'm sure it will be).
-
Besides, I gave you a big box full of console guts. That has to count for something.

Maybe it's just me, but that's not something I would say to a person who's help I may need one day.
-
Why. I am sure it will be. I've heard nothing but good things.

Flats are the shiznizzle. I was all tubes until I realized you can do a no-tie rig with flats almost as easily. Now im livin the dream
I'm sorry, but I don't know what any of this means.
-
I think it's ebonics.

Well, I know what a shiznizzle is, it's the flats part that has me confused.
-
I suspect he means solid state.
-
Tinpot. My guess is he's got flattened tinpots.
After reading some of the earlier part of the thread, I wonder how Anders is doing.
