Title: MCS receiver-did I kill it?
Post by: guitarplyr on January 24, 2012, 05:07:07 PM
Hi all,
I dug out an MCS 3260 receiver the other day that worked fine except for the usual static/scratchy controls. I had some free time so I decided to give it a good Deoxit bath. I hit all the pots, controls, jacks etc. I let it dry for a few hours, plugged it in, flipped the power switch and a flash of orange shot out of the back where the power transformer is located. Now there is no power at all...it's dead. Did I blow it up beyond repair or is it something fixable? I didn't see or smell smoke when it happened. Maybe a fuse somewhere? Any help/advice would be appreciated.-Eric

Anything is fixable.

The question becomes, is it worth fixing?

Take it to the shop, let Tom or Anders check it out. Then you'll know for sure. :)

They can tell you if it's worth fixing too!  They'll know what to do :)
