1) I look at a seller's feedback BEFORE I bid.
2) I never buy unless PayPal is involved.
3) No Sansui AU-a607MOS in the guy's completed listings.  However......
4) "THIS AD IS FOR A SANSUI  AU-X1 SUPER INTEGRATED AMP FOR PARTS OR REPAIR"
5) This guy is definitely shady w/ 88.7% feedback.

It's a real shame that ePay has boiled down to a skeptical purchase at best in some cases.

Good luck getting your issue resolved.

I also hope he gets it resolved.  But PayPal seems to be your only real safety net.  The only time I almost got burned was with two Klipsch HI's.  The schmuck only shipped one.  I got my money back (minus shipping) and kept the speaker, thanks to PayPal.  For some reason I had added Insurance to the transaction.  Musta been prescient... or just lucky...

This is a known scumbag from audiogon and ebay.  He changes his ID every couple of months.  He goes by the name, "Papi Chulo".  He's been conning people for years.  I've read about him several times, how he still has an ebay account is beyond me.

I don't think there's anyone doubting you. It's just unfortunate that the same individual has been able to successfully run his con for so long. As Rev mentioned, this guy does have a big red flag on him.

His current inventory seems outlandish, I was checking out that Yamaha GTX tt last night, I didn't realize it was the same guy.

I hope no one else falls victim to his scam.

Avoid the buyer "rometer".

Joseph Bruschuk
1005 Sanderling Ct
Antioch, IL 60002
United States

I sold him a pair of vintage Magnavox woofers and a pair of the matching midrange drivers.

6 weeks later, I log in to find negative feedback left by rometer claiming damaged drivers, poor packing, and no response on my behalf.

I was never contacted by this assclown nor was a claim opened with ePay. I called ePay and they removed the negative feedback after 45 lovely minutes on the tele.

"rometer", you should change your name to "poleter" because you eat pole.

Bad eBay seller - tunerx-factory

Claims to be a Canadian seller.  Shipments come from East Asia and take forever.  Tried to return an item that didn't fit my motorcycle.  Turns out the return shipping address in British Columbia is bogus.

Go with your gut.   A CL flip isn't worth the aggravation that having the wrong person over to your house can bring.

Plus, you've had me over, so we already know that your judgment is suspect!

Pro tip: When buying or selling speakers on CL, it is sometimes helpful to have either a battery powered T-Amp or a DC->AC inverter and a low powered (and ideally small sized) receiver. You can use your phone or iPod as a source, hook up the speakers, and verify that they are operational.

I use a 400 Watt Coleman inverter and a small Hitachi mini "receiver" from the 80's. I started doing so after getting burned on one of those Knight KN612 HC coaxial speakers.

This also prevents emails from CL buyers claiming that they got home, hooked up the speakers you just sold, and they didn't work.

A t-amp and ipod is my exact set up when buying speakers and sometimes when selling them if that is all I want the potential buyer to see.

Avoid "funformoney32" on ebay.  Didn't ship a Tandberg unit I bought and paid for on 11/30/13.  I suspect it was sold out from under me.  I have reported the incident to ebay and rated the seller appropriately.

Received an amp that was actually packed ok.  It was advertised as normal wear but in perfect working order.  Amp was beat to living shit, not one part of the chassis or plates are straight, has about a dozen random screws, one jack was bad and the meters don't work.  But since it's a Carver it still works and sounds good.

Most married men said goodbye to their balls along time ago.  And it's funnier to say punch in the dick then balls.  Jimmy P yes, you highly doubtful.

I found their address and phone number anyway.  It's a little storage place off of 119.  I received one of the records today and it is intact but there is no true ship date on the label.  If you want to wait 2 weeks to get your purchase, they are the seller for you.

Have you noticed the new Craigslist/eBay semi-scam?

I'd see these Craigslist ads and knew something was fishy, but hadn't looked into it until I came across one of MY OWN eBay ads, but with the user id omitted, and listed on Craigslist, in Texas!  Mind you, if it made the sale for me, it's hard to be mad, but...what if the buyer still thought it was Craigslist, or that the item was from some store??  I get negative feedback maybe??  I don't like it!  It's sneaky and underhanded...

read this and see whats going on:

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/ele/4458898686.html (http://cleveland.craigslist.org/ele/4458898686.html)   ** It may not appear for an hour or so.  It's 1:30 PM, Weds 5/7/2014, right now. Should be up by 2:30 pm..**

Feel free to copy this general info and post anywhere you'd like, i.e. Pittsburgh cl, etc., etc..

What a lazy little scam they've got going!

Anyone know anything about the CL lister in Monroeville?

You will know his ad as it reads like a whos-who of the 70's hi-fi era...

But maybe, maybe - if you're really, REALLY lucky - you will get a one syllable answer to a buy inquiry. Most of the time - nothing at all.

Sure makes me wonder...

Watch out for mark schang <166a5093f6b230b4895716c0ee79e75e@reply.craigslist.org>,

Not saying he's a scammer but the guy is trying to nickel & dime me for some speakers, asking if they're fully functional which I already noted in the ad and thinks I should throw in the speaker stands to boot.

I don't get why people think they should get something for next to nothing when the price is already fair.

Last year, when I first seen his long post, I contacted him and actually went and met him at a storage facility in Monroeville.
He was sort of strange and said he was maybe moving to China to work in the nuclear industry or something...
Anyway, a lot of his stuff was OK, but a lot needed work done to them.

When I again seen his ad a year later, I contacted him asking why he just simply lists items without any description or prices. He just says "let me know what you want, and we can then talk about it".
Most of the prices he gave me were not very attractive. No wonder his list of equipment hasn't changed in over a year.

Not necessarily a scammer, but I'd avoid rarewaves on eBay. They have a good habit of botching their titles. I nearly bought a CD boxset when I was led to believe it was vinyl. Asker the seller, they said CD and didn't respond to a follow question. They also had the same listing in their UK store a couple bucks more, but same shipping location. Emailed them, an hour later the listing disappeared and I never heard back from them.

I've bought lots of stuff cheap from them and never had an issue.   Same with Import CDs.   Seems one of the two of them is usually lowest on any given vinyl reissue.   I'm pretty sure rarewaves is where I got my ITCOTCK.

Have to agree with Mark, never had an issue.  But, it's how you handle a problem that makes you a good or bad business.  Hopefully, they will do the right thing and correct the mistake.

It's a principle thing with me, they did a very poor job in treating someone who was ready to plop down $350. If that's how they value a customer willing to spend that kind of money, I won't buy from them. That's not to say the next guy is better, but if you can't answer questions about an auction, you're not getting my money. They do have good prices on some stuff, I may have even bought from them before, but they're not the only game in town.

Too many to list here, but the hundreds of ebay sellers listing speakers that are clearly missing their foam surrounds in their pics as "excellent, works great, etc...".

Had no idea that drugs had been legalized across the USA.

Stupid isn't the same thing as a scammer.

A reminder - the idea behind this thread is to identify specific scammers on eBay by userid based on our own experience (or other reliable sources) so that we can populate our blocked eBay buyers and bidders lists.  Generic comments are not as helpful in that regard.

Well there is an eBay seller in Monroeville with a pair of speakers that are clearly missing their woofer surrounds in the pics and they are claiming "they are working great" - - would he/she qualify as just an effing dumbass,or a purposeful scammer preying on the uninformed?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BOSE-301-SERIES-1-DIRECT-REFLECTING-LOUDSPEAKER-PAIR-L-AND-R-WORKING/132502662255?hash=item1ed9c62c6f:g:QBYAAOSwSFBZ5XXs (https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BOSE-301-SERIES-1-DIRECT-REFLECTING-LOUDSPEAKER-PAIR-L-AND-R-WORKING/132502662255?hash=item1ed9c62c6f:g:QBYAAOSwSFBZ5XXs)

Who knows how long he/she has been "testing" these without proper surrounds?

And he/she are not alone, many evilbayers out there like that in their ads, it's just that this jamoke is local - and may know of this forum or be known.

I'd say if the seller hid the fact the woofers need refoamed, that would be a scam. In this case, the pictures clearly show the woofers. To some people getting sound out of a speaker qualifies it as "working". Others consider it broken, need work, etc and pay accordingly.

Consider adding thr-2063 to your blocked buyers list.  Nice guy,  but apparently prone to clicking buy and then changing his mind.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
