In the days of old we had National Record Mart and Oasis, great places to pop in and buy brand new records. Not many places offer new records. I was searching discogs for a certain artist and found one of the sellers was in Pittsburgh. I never knew about these guys.

I contacted them to see if pickup was an option and got a quick reply it was. I was told not to place the order on discogs, just come down.
I went down today and it was great. It's not really a store, but they have no issue with the public stopping by. Friendly people and they seem to love showing you around, answering questions, or shooting the breeze. Their prices on discogs are a bit higher than other sellers, but you don't get to see what you're buying with other sellers. I picked up four records and the total was about 15% less than what was listed on discogs and no shipping charges or tax.
During my conversation with Gregg, he said Jim's records on Liberty Ave is making a comeback. Not sure I remember that place.
Anyhow, it's nice to know there's another place to get new vinyl locally.

He is probably referring to What was Paul's CDs, then Soundcat, and now Juke Records.

BTW, I like The Attic and Exchange for new records. Pittsburgh has a wealth of choices compared to most cities.
-
I was aware of Soundcat, but never tried them.
I like The Attic as well. However be careful in there. I picked up a Soullive record two weeks ago that was sealed, or so I thought. Someone resealed it. I don't think Fred would do that, but someone may have sold it to him like that. Could happen anywhere. Fred also has some crazy ideas. He told me all the records on Amazon are pressed overseas, that's why they're cheap. Amazon is selling vinyl as a loss leader.

Where is Get Hip Records located?

Get Hip rules, they have put out quite a few great records. They sometimes have special events where they have bands and open the warehouse/store to the public. The owner Gregg and his wife are both super nice, he's from the band The Cynics. They are currently sponsoring a screening of The Seeds' documentary with a Q&A session at the hollywood theatre.

Sounds interesting. Where is the Hollywood Theater?

Dormont, I believe.
