Title: My latest, all tuned in
Post by: non-prophet on August 09, 2015, 06:52:01 PM
This is some of my best work to date, it sounds incredible.  I tuned it in by ear, no computers telling me what is correct.  And yes, those are Snell type b's in the corners getting eclipsed by the Duntechs.  Sorry about the pictures, my camera just doesn't like that room.  The rundown:

Preamp:  Aloia PST 11.01
CD transport:  Theta Data Basic
DAC:  Entec Number Cruncher 3.0 (Prototype)
Amplifier:  Llano Technology Phoenix CA300
Power Conditioner:  Chang Lightspeed ISO 9600
Interconnects:  XLO Reference 1a
Speaker Cables:  Millersound
A/C Cables:  MIT, Marigo Labs and Shunyata

Thank you for looking.  Nick

Will you be including a table?

I do have the option, the Aloia is supposed to have an amazing phono section.  I just have to mount an arm to one of my tables.  Sota Sapphire with Eminent Technology ET2 Air bearing tonearm or Fairchild 412 with a Magnepan Unitrac 1.  I am really not much of a vinyl fan, but one will be done for the meeting.  I know vinyl is important to most of you.  Nick

If a meeting takes place I would be most interested in attending. This looks like great work.

Very nice, clean, simple look.  Hardwood floors and smooth walls, just like my set up.  Any trouble managing room reverb?

Looking good, Nick.  Boy, those sure make those Snells look small and the Snells are by no means small.  I look forward to hearing the new rig!

You will always have those problems with hard surfaces and I do not to use any tone controls or equalizers.  I did have some serious issues with the Snells, I could always get them close but the vocals were never quite right (never centered).  With the Duntechs, all the drivers are facing forward so I had less to control.  I will find an occasional song where it does sound like its reflecting but those are rare.  It's easy when you are using a great pair of speakers, they do most of the work and you just have to place them accordingly.
