Five Vintage Amps and Preamps to Add to Your eBay Watch List (http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/blog/2011/08/22/five-vintage-amps-and-preamps-add-your-ebay-watch-list)
Here's the list, but you can jump over to their site for the full write up.
- Carver A-400x amplifier
- Conrad-Johnson PV-2 preamp
- Entech Number Cruncher 205.2 DAC
- Kenwood KR-6170 “Jumbo Jet” receiver
- Rotel RQ-970BX phono preamp
I think the gist is that the artcle is featuring items that are good performers for the money.
So what do you think? Would any of these be in YOUR top 5?

I had the A400-x for a short period of time. 200/ch at 8 ohms no bells and whistles. I thought it had more bang than the TFM-25. I think I paid $89 for it so it was a good deal. Sold it for $250 and bought something else Carver. Now that I remember it was in pristine condition. Guy I sold it to said it arrived and the power transformer had came loose in shipping and put a dent in the top. He put it back in place and it still worked perfectly!
